Candle & Tealight Favours

Rustic wooden tealight holders with personalised tags. Our most-ordered favour — a place setting during the meal, a keepsake afterwards.

How many tealight favours to order

The usual rule is one favour per guest, not per invitation, unless you are deliberately giving one per couple. Count confirmed guests, then add a small overage: around 5 percent for a wedding under 100 guests, and 8-10 percent above that. On 120 guests that means ordering about 130. The extra pieces cover late additions, a few you will want to keep, one for each set of parents and one for the photographer's flat lay.

Because everything is made after the order is placed, a top-up later is a separate handmade batch rather than a shelf pull. Ordering the overage in the first batch keeps the whole set consistent in wood tone and engraving depth.

Choosing between the wooden tealight options

All three versions in this category are personalised wooden tealight pieces, and the differences are mostly in shape and how much room there is for wording.

  • Simple tealight favours suit long banquet tables where the place setting is already busy with menus, napkins and glassware.
  • Tealight holders with a raised or shaped front give more surface for names, a date and a short line, and they read better from a standing height on a favour table.
  • Single tealight favours work well when each guest takes one home in hand rather than finding it at a seat.

If you are lighting them during the reception, plan where they sit. Wood on a bare table is fine; wood pressed against fabric drapes is not. Many couples light them at the head table and leave the rest unlit as keepsakes.

Personalisation and wording

We personalise each piece by hand with names, a wedding or event date, initials, or a short phrase. Shorter wording stays legible at this size, so two names and a date is the most common combination. Table numbers or individual guest names are possible as well, which turns the favour into a place card that does a second job.

Send your wording exactly as you want it to appear, including how you spell names with accents or apostrophes, and tell us your date format. We set it as written. For corporate events, a short company line and a date reads more cleanly than a long tagline.

How they arrive and how to pack them

Every piece is finished and packed by hand in our workshop before shipping, wrapped so the engraved faces are protected in transit. Bulk orders arrive grouped in counted batches, which makes it straightforward to hand a set to each helper on the morning of the setup.

Allow around 20-30 minutes to lay out 100 favours with two people, more if you are matching named pieces to a seating plan. If your venue asks you to clear tables the same night, decide in advance who is boxing the unclaimed ones.

Order a sample before the full run

Wood colour, grain and how deep the personalisation reads are all easier to judge in your hand than on a screen. If you are ordering 100 or more, request a free sample first with your actual wording, and photograph it in your venue's light before confirming. For quantities, mixed wording or a combination of favour types across one event, send the details through the bulk quote request and we will work out the batch with you.

Pairing with other favours

Couples often use tealights for the reception and a second, softer gift for close family or the welcome bag. Handmade soap favours pair well for a scented table, and keepsake favours suit the smaller group you want to give something lasting. If your event is in winter, the same wooden pieces also sit naturally alongside Christmas favours.
